Archaeomythology combines archaeology with mythology to produce a more complete picture of our ancient past. Using this method it is possible to reconstruct the old myths and rewrite them without changing their sacred meaning. The myths were often written in an highly stylised format that would be difficult for our modern eyes to understand. The job of a story teller is to cross this boundary and rescue the tale from the grip of the past. All that has been added to this particular set of stories has been the context and the description.
Much of the material used for this series has been drawn from very recent translations, originally recorded on clay tablets, material that would not have been available only a few years ago. In much the same way the archaeological evidence is also drawn from recent discoveries.
The series combines the tales of ancient Sumerian to complete a synthesis presenting a mythological epic recounting the earliest of our human memories.
